heal.thy SCHOOL is an international online school for grades 1-12. It combines live instruction, structured subject teaching, interdisciplinary project learning, personal guidance and Coaching & Communication – CoCo.
The school is organized into Primary (Grades 1-4), Secondary (Grades 5-8) and High School (Grades 9-12).
Our model is designed for families seeking location-independent yet clearly structured learning, including international and traveling families, as well as children who benefit from small learning groups, personal support and project-based learning.
In principle, children and young people can participate from different locations, provided that the time zone, technical requirements and daily routine work for the family. Parents are responsible for checking the school regulations that apply at their place of residence or stay.
In principle, joining during the school year may be possible. During admissions, we review the previous learning pathway, suitable grade level, language track and a suitable start date.
We discuss individual needs openly during admissions and clarify what support is possible within our model. The important point is that the conditions and expectations are a good fit for both sides.
The school day combines shared live instruction with guided and independent learning phases. All times refer to Central European Time.
Primary: 9:00-9:30 arrival, check-in and planning; 9:30-11:30 guided and independent learning; 11:30-12:00 reflection, presentations and planning.
Secondary: 9:00-10:30 Block I; 10:30-11:00 break; 11:00-12:30 Block II.
High School: 9:00-10:30 Block I; 10:30-11:00 break; 11:00-12:30 Block II, plus Block III once a week.
No. Live instruction is only one part of learning. Depending on age and task, digital phases alternate with reading, writing, research, creative work, experiments, movement, project work and practical activities.
Parents generally do not need to be present. Younger children may need more support at the beginning or with organizational routines. The goal is for students to participate increasingly independently.
We deliberately work in manageable learning groups so teachers can involve students actively, respond to questions and support learning processes personally.
Subject teaching builds foundations, methods and academic skills. In interdisciplinary projects, students apply this knowledge, connect different subjects and develop their own ideas, products and presentations.
CoCo stands for Coaching & Communication. Students reflect on their learning, clarify questions, set goals, develop strategies and strengthen communication and self-organization skills.
AI is used in an age-appropriate, reflective and transparent way. Students learn to use digital tools responsibly, check results critically, assess sources and distinguish their own work from technical assistance.
Assessment is continuous and based on different forms of evidence, including participation, assignments, projects, presentations, reflections and CheckUps. The school year is divided into two semesters, each ending with a report. Primary students receive visual and written feedback. From Secondary onward, students receive a report with grades based on the American grading system. Regular feedback makes progress visible and supports the next steps.
heal.thy SCHOOL offers German, English and Spanish language tracks. The selected language provides the framework for instruction; additional languages and requirements are adapted to the individual pathway.
The High School Diploma can be completed in all three language tracks. English is the shared working language throughout interdisciplinary projects, from research and planning to collaboration, documentation and presentation. This strengthens students’ language confidence for international pathways.
Families need reliable internet access, a suitable computer or laptop with camera and microphone, and a quiet workspace. Before the school year begins, families receive access to the learning and communication structures.
heal.thy SCHOOL uses a data-protection-compliant platform for school communication and organization. The learning platforms used by the school are integrated into the daily routine.
Community develops through live lessons, group work, projects, CoCo and heal.thy Clubs. Personal school meetings also strengthen existing connections. Our experience shows that online learning does not create shyness or distance; personal meetings are characterized by the joy of seeing one another and a familiar sense of togetherness. Many children also connect with other students in their region, so social learning takes place both online and in their local environment.
heal.thy Clubs are interest-based activities outside regular lessons. They create opportunities for connection, shared learning and deeper exploration of selected topics. One heal.thy Club of choice is included in tuition.
Students in Grades 9-12 work towards a High School Diploma. The curriculum combines academic learning, interdisciplinary projects, personal development and future skills.
Credits are earned through completed subjects, continuous performance, projects, presentations and other defined learning evidence. Students must earn the required credits and meet the requirements of the High School curriculum.
A transcript is the official record of achievement. It documents the individual learning pathway, completed subjects, credits earned and special areas of focus.
heal.thy SCHOOL is registered and listed as a private school with the Florida Department of Education.
Whether and under which conditions a diploma is recognized or considered is decided by the relevant university, training institution, authority or other receiving organization. Depending on the country and pathway, additional evidence may be required, such as language certificates, entrance examinations, standardized tests, specific subject records or a portfolio.
Depending on interests, strengths and requirements, the diploma can support applications to international universities, colleges, vocational training, continuing education or specialized programs. It can also prepare students for creative, digital and entrepreneurial pathways.
AP Exams are standardized subject examinations developed and administered by the College Board. They assess subject knowledge at the level of a demanding American college course. They do not replace the High School Diploma but can add an internationally recognized achievement.
At heal.thy SCHOOL, students may generally take an AP Exam from Grade 10, depending on the subject, prior knowledge and preparation. No additional school year is required. Exams are usually held once a year in May at authorized schools or official test centers.
We look early at students’ goals, relevant subjects and languages, possible additional examinations and the evidence required for a university, training program or intended professional pathway.
